This statue was made in honor of the Olympic games. The Olympic Games were where the Greeks would compete in honor of their Gods. It was made by an Athenian Sculptor, Phidias. This statue is of Zeus, the God of the Sky. He is holding a scepter that is made of every metal in his left hand (right to us), and in the other he is holding the Goddess of Victory, Nike. Not the shoe brand Nike, This Nike means victorious. This statue took a long 12 years to build. A year for every meter! This statue represents power and wealth. This is the fourth oldest wonder!!
